Origins of the Institute

The International Institute of Tao Studies Malaysia is the pioneer in advocating Tao Studies and practice in English in Malaysia. The Institute, responding to market interest of English speakers, resulted in its development using English as its main medium of instruction today.

Dr Geraldine Goh its founder, had the vision of offering courses, teaching as well as consultation in English stemmed from the aspiration of reaching out to individual who have interest in Tao teachings and practices but who may not be fully conversant in both spoken and written Chinese, the typical medium of instruction in such courses throughout the world.

From its early beginnings in the 80s, the great Tao scholar Professor Li Heng Lih, Founder of International Association of Tao Studies and International Foundation of Tao Studies in Taiwan inspire the Institute spiritually with Tao concepts and technically educated and trained the Institute members in Tao skills.

Founder of I-Ching Association Singapore, Roch Goh Peng Wee also helped to setup and contributed to the teaching of I-Ching studies at the Institute.

First of its kind, the Institute ran Tao seminars and training courses in simultaneously both Chinese and English.

After 40 years, the Institute is now regarded as one of the pioneer in its field offering various courses, books and counselling services.
